Territorial Administration Minister reiterates threats against Kamto’s planned nationwide protest

Minister Paul Atanga Nji has followed up his September 7, 2020 threats to Maurice Kamto during a press conference with a communiqué today September 14, 2020, warning that any person seen on the streets on September 22, 2020 would be doing so at his own peril.

The Minister of Territorial Administration in the communiqué has specified that the authorities would by no means tolerate any form of illegal public demonstrations particularly in key towns around the country like Yaounde, Douala and Bafoussam, as he insists they are the most affected towns in terms of positive COVID-19 cases.

The communiqué states that any persons who despite the several warnings defy them by going out to the protest, would face the prospect of being arrested and kept under detention, irrespective of their political affiliation or status.

The Minister of Territorial Administration also gave a firm warning to those instigating people to boycott elections or to go on a protest through main stream media, social media or the written press to get ready for what might possibly befall them whether before or after the holding of the regional elections.
